You can change your thoughts and emotions by learning Self Hypnosis – Imagine it whilst in hypnosis and you can make it your reality, as long as your visualisation is within the bounds of possibility
If you would like to learn how to change the way you think and feel, and encourage positive thought about the world and about yourself, then using self hypnosis will enable you to become much more confident and able to follow your dreams and aspirations and reach your goals. Not only that, but you will find that using self hypnosis techniques allows you the time to feel peace and relaxation whenever you do so.
Similar to meditation, hypnosis is very relaxing and calming and it is therefore an invaluable tool to use if you are stressed, anxious or just want to visualize yourself as being far more confident, successful or just plain happy!
Self Hypnosis can be induced easily and I teach it to all my clients if they are interested.
I also, teach self hypnosis to people who express a desire to learn it. This can be booked as a regular session and often one session is sufficient to allow you to learn the ways in which you can take yourself down into a deep hypnotic state. This is completely safe to do so as you will always make sure you are in a comfortable safe environment before you decide to use self hypnosis.
If you would like to try it for yourself, here are some tips on how to do it.
Please make sure you are in a safe environment with the phone off the hook.
Take a deep breath in through your nose and hold it for a couple of seconds;
Breath out slowly through your mouth and as you do so say the word ‘CALM’ to yourself;
Do this breathing technique three times saying the word ‘CALM’ on each out breath;
Now, imagine a big bubble of relaxing energy hovering above your head;
Imagine this bubble of relaxing energy is flooding into your head and it is relaxing your eyes and eyelids, your jaw, your ears, your scalp;
Now allow this bubble to gently and slowly go down the whole of your body and feel yourself relaxing and letting go as it moves down your neck into your shoulders, into your back and chest, filling your whole body and down into your legs and feet. Don’t rush this – just allow the relaxation to gently and slowly fill your whole body and mind;
At this point you are ready to imagine a staircase with 10 steps leading down perhaps to a beautiful garden, a beach, anywhere that you feel comfortable with. Each step down this staircase is a step down into deeper and deeper relaxation;
Count slowly as you imagine walking down each step. Ten (say to yourself “calm” “more relaxed” “going deeper and deeper”) And as you say these things feel yourself going deeper and deeper into relaxation and a wonderful feeling of peace;
NINE … EIGHT …. SEVEN …. SIX …. deeper and deeper … FIVE … FOUR …. THREE …. TWO …. ONE …. ZERO …
and now you are standing at the bottom of the staircase and you are in a beautiful place and you can feel the texture of the grass or sand or whatever beneath your feet. You can hear birds singing, you can smell the beautiful fragrance of flowers or perhaps the smell of seaweed and you can also hear the sound of running water or the sound of the waves;
At this point it is a good idea to go to a safe place. This can be a house in the garden or on the beach or anywhere you feel safe and comfortable.
So, walk towards the house or other place and open the door and walk in.
Make this place exactly how you wish it to be. This is a place that only you can go to unless you invite others.
Somewhere here is a really comfortable place for you to sit or lie down in so look around or imagine that you are now getting yourself into this comfortable place ready to do the work that you want to do.
Once there, you can decide what you want to do. You can use this time to just bliss out and allow your mind to rest and recuperate. You can also use this time in hypnosis to visualise various scenarios or ways of being that you want to experience for yourself.
For instance, if you are an athlete you can visualise yourself at the beginning of a race looking completely confident and excited to be on the track. You can see or imagine yourself leaping from the blocks at the instant you hear the starters gun and experience your body at it’s optimum performance as you feel your legs strong and moving with total efficiency. It is always really useful to feel emotion as you do this. See yourself as the one who reaches the finish line first. If you practice this during self hypnosis, you will find that your body and mind will respond when you get to the actual race. Whatever you practice will pay off on the day. This is the same for all sports people be they golfers, cricketers, snooker players, tennis players etc. Visualisation of the perfect shot, the best hit and most relaxed confident stance will allow you to improve your performance.
Of course, self hypnosis can be used to visualise all sort of things.
See yourself out and about looking very confident .. see yourself at a party, bar or club looking completely confident and notice how your body looks and feels. Feel the emotion of that confident feeling. If you are having trouble feeling confident in hypnosis then think back to a time when you were feeling confident and slip back into that feeling.
When you want to come out of hypnosis, it is just a matter of deciding this and then you can either count your way up from ONE to FIVE or you can just open your eyes. There is nothing magical about it. You cannot get stuck! If you are in bed when doing this, you can just go off to sleep and wake up as usual in the morning.
