Panic Attacks

You don’t need to continue to suffer with panic attacks anymore ….

I see many clients who are suffering from panic attack symptoms. Symptoms such as breathlessness, heart palpitations, sweating, dizziness, feelings of terror etc.

Sometimes there is a trigger to bring on this attack and sometimes there is no obvious trigger.

Suggestion therapy can help to immediately alleviate the symptoms together with information regarding breathing techniques. If you feel that a panic attack is coming you can avoid it by taking a long slow deep breath in through your nose and then slowly breathe out through your mouth. Do this three times and you will find that the panic attack cannot survive. The reason for this is that at times of panic we tend to hold our breath or breathe very very shallowly or hyperventilate.  This lack of breath is what causes some of the symptoms described above.

It is also very helpful to say something positive to yourself during this time.  Saying “I am safe” or similar will put a positive thought in your mind to replace the fearful negative thoughts that bring on the panic attack.  Did you know that you cannot have a negative thought while there is a positive thought in your mind?  Changing your thoughts to positive ones at this time can stop a panic attack in its tracks.

Sometimes we have a panic attack because of our fear that we will have one!  I can also teach you a tapping technique that will help you to deal with any anxious feelings you may have at any time. This technique is called Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT.

If you have experiences in your past which may be  contributing to the panic we can also use Integral Eye Movement Therapy to work on those memories to take the sting out of them.  Once this has been done, they will not be working against you anymore.

Usually, we have panic attacks because of an underlying anxious emotional feeling. It is my experience that doing a course of Hypnoanalysis will allow the underlying causes to be released from your subconscious mind. This process will release you from the cause of the panic attacks. Some people experience phobias and these too are often because of experiences in childhood and can also be alleviated by the use of hypnoanalysis.
