Stress and Anxiety

and Worrying too …

Stress is a psychological and biological reaction to a perceived threat.

The body goes into the “fight or flight” response as chemicals, including adrenaline, nor adrenaline and cortisol, are released into the blood stream. The buildup of these chemicals, when not released during stressful situations, can increase blood pressure, heart rate and sweat. Cortisol inhibits proper functioning of the immune system and also releases sugar and fats into the blood stream.

Everyone reacts differently to stress. What one person finds perfectly acceptable another person will be stressed out by that same situation. For instance, a pile of unpaid bills may be a problem for one person but will not phase another. Their stress levels are different. The person who doesn’t get stressed by unpaid bills will perhaps feel stress in another situation. When stress reaches an uncomfortable level most people begin to suffer from stress related symptoms. Many times these symptoms are quite undetectable until one day they are totally overwhelming.

Some of the symptoms of excessive stress:-
•anger,
•appetite suppression,
•anxiety,
•behavioural changes,
•breathlessness,
•concentration problems,
•constipation or diarrhoea,
•chest pains,
•cramps or muscle spasms,
•depression
•dizziness,
•fainting spells,
•food cravings,
•muscular aches and pains,
•nail biting,
•nervous twitches,
•pins and needles,
•restless,
•sexual difficulties,
•sleeping difficulties,
•sweating,
•tired.

Anxiety and Depression are very common mental illnesses and are mostly caused by excessive stress. Excessive stress can cause high blood pressure and that can lead to heart attacks and stroke.

Stress can be very effectively managed and neutralised with hypnotherapy.

By using hypnotherapy suggestions, that enable the subconscious mind to re-evaluate situations and find a more relaxed way of looking at things, and also by using self hypnosis to bring the body and mind into a state of deep relaxation and peace, you will find yourself becoming a much calmer and happier person and able to think clearer without the uncontrolled responses to stress triggers that you used to have.

Sometimes Hypnoanalysis will be a useful therapy. By going back into childhood, we will find the repressed emotions and they can be released during hypnosis sessions. The release of these emotions can be enough to release the stress in your life at the present time as the triggers for uncomfortable feelings and emotions are no longer there.

Of course, there are many things that can be done to alleviate or reduce stress. These include deep breathing techniques, keeping a diary, talking to someone, recognising inner dialogue (negative thoughts), thinking of 5 things to be grateful for each day (even if it is just that there is a blue sky today), relaxation (including self hypnosis), good sleep patterns, recognizing stressful situations and removing yourself from them, taking breaks, exercise and eating good nutritious food.
